WRITING TO MPs etc

There are several ways of supporting your nearest track or circuit in terms of lobbying local and national politicians and the constabulary etc.  It is very quick and easy in this day and age to write to officialdom electronically and a reply from them should be expected — after all, they are our public servants.

Try to keep your letters individual rather than copying anything formulaic (see the main points of letter No.1 and letter No.2 for inclusion below) and always be professional, respectful and accommodating of both sides of any story.

To write your MP, go to http://www.writetothem.com/

…. simply enter your postcode and you will be given links for local councillors, your MP and your European MEP.  It is generally not worthwhile writing to MPs outside of your area, however there is no harm in expressing concerns at all levels relevant to your Borough or County or area of specific interest.

* PLEASE FORWARD COPIES OF ANY RESPONSES TO US!! *

Another route to contacting MPs is available at:

http://www.theyworkforyou.com/

… however this is more for those who wish to track their MPs involvement in particular subject areas.  That might be useful however if they have offered to take a case forward.  This facility can be set up to send e-mail prompts whenever your MP speaks or a particular subject is discussed in Parliament.
